All proceeds from the event will benefit Pet Haven puppy, George, and his care!

George came to us after being seized along with 50 other dogs in a hoarding case. As one of the youngest puppers, he was just 8 weeks old when he arrived in Pet Haven care.

Although George wasn’t as emotionally scarred as some of the other dogs, he has some major medical concerns to contend with.

While prepping for his neuter, our vet discovered a grade 5 out of 6 heart murmur. His neuter was canceled and we investigated with an echocardiogram of his heart. The initial diagnosis was that he needed PDA surgery to correct the structure of his heart caused by a fatal birth defect.

We made an appointment with the University of Minnesota cardio team to confirm. But George wasn’t done throwing us curveballs. Before his appointment, he began to have seizures. George saw both the cardio and neuro team who confirmed the need for PDA surgery, as well as the likely diagnosis of juvenile epilepsy (currently being managed by medication).

In pups like George, there is a nearly 100% success rate of PDA surgery being effective and he will go on to live a normal life. Without surgery, it is unlikely that George will see past his first birthday.

With so much life left to live, we said YES to getting this 3-month-old vibrant boy the surgery he needs.

The wonderful cardio and neuro teams have approved him for surgery and George is scheduled for March 15th!

George’s medical expenses are going to exceed $5,000 so come on over to Modist on Tuesday and support George with a nightcap!
