Getting to know Beanie

Beanie came to Pet Haven recently.  She was surrendered awhile ago at Red Lake and was picked on by the larger dogs but was not always willing to go into a kennel where the door could be shut and she would be safe. Now she’s finding out what city life is all about and we’re finding out a lot about her too.

Beanie is a little people shy at first but warms up quickly and the more nice people she meets, the easier it is for her to meet new folks.

We’ve learned she had badly infected upper front teeth and they have been removed and she’s feeling much better.  She had a sinus infection and getting rid of those teeth and roots should help keep that from happening again.

She also has heartworm and starts treatment this week.  Lots of rest and short strolls on a leash for Beanie over the next 6 weeks, along with periodic injections.  Heartworm treatment is expensive, if you’re able to help with care for Beanie, you can go to our home page and click here to  make an online donation or mail a check  to our address:

In the  memo line write:  helping Beanie

We’re guessing that Beanie is a cattle dog and pit mix.  All she knows is she’s in a home, safe, getting good care and living life in the lap of luxury!

Update on the female cat with the knife wound.  Check out this blog to see a picture of her.  She is at the clinic that is treating her and where Beanie will go for treatment too.  She’s healing well but slowly, and she has a BIG name for a not so big girl.  Addy might be a good nickname.

Working together we can all help more animals.
