Pet Haven is growing! This is an exciting time to join our team and bring purpose to your work. Last year we rescued 845 pets in need and we expect more growth in 2021! We have identified the need for a Certified Vet Tech to join our team and help us provide the best care possible to our rescued pets and help us save more! This is a full time paid position.

The Vet Care Manager will supervise the volunteer Vet Team Coordinators and ensure that the team provides all the necessary support to fosters and adopters. The VCM manages all aspects of animal care including intake, medical authorization, spay/neuter, medical records, invoices, special needs care plans, supplies, and Pet Haven’s animal management software system. The VCM will also eventually manage the onsite vetting of animals. Rescue/Shelter and Clinic work experience preferred. 

The position is a full-time position 40 hours per week. This is currently a remote position but will turn into part remote, part office direct animal care work. Daily emailing and/or phone calls are required. Flexibility with schedule is a must. Weekend and evening hours will be a part of this position.

Vet Care Manager

 

Summary

The VCM will also eventually manage onsite vetting of animals.

Status and Availability

Reports to: Animal Care Director

Compensation

  • Dependent on experience

Job Description:

  • Oversees vet care team comprised of authorization, spay/neuter, medical care, and record coordinators
  • Ensures all team members are effectively doing job duties and delegates tasks to the proper coordinator
  • Responds to emails/calls regarding vetting concerns and authorizes vet care as needed
  • Manages ongoing vet needs and communicates with fosters and ongoing vetting needs
  • Ensures the accuracy of all medical records and invoices
  • Organizes and ensures database accuracy for post-adoption packets
  • Maintains strong clinic relationships
  • Ensures all Pet Haven policies are being followed an executed for medical care
  • Works within an approved veterinary budget
  • Audits animal management software database to ensure vet care is recorded properly  
  • Manages microchip inventory at clinics  
  • Monitors special needs cases and reports to Animal Care Director
  • Collaborates with Pet Haven teams to identify and execute ongoing fundraising efforts for special needs animals.   
  • Hands-on vet tech procedures and supplies ordering/management when onsite option is available
    • Administering vaccinations (except rabies), microchips, blood draws, preventatives, intake exams, etc. and maintaining animal records onsite

 

Qualifications

  • Certified Vet Tech
    • Shelter/rescue medicine and clinical experience preferred
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision and direction
  • Strong commitment to animal welfare
  • Responsible, enthusiastic leader. 
  • Strong positive interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and thoughtfully
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and the Office suite and G Suite, including Gmail and Google Drive
  • Access to email and smartphone
