Founded in 1952, Pet Haven is proud to be Minnesota’s first foster-based animal rescue organization.
We are the go-to foster-based rescue for Minnesota pets searching for love, community, and care.
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and people by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation through supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that strengthen the human-animal bond, and keep pets out of the sheltering system through compassion, kindness, and respect.
Champions for pets and their people since 1952
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs, including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.
Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.
Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we're working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.
Please also note the following:
We rely on tax-deductible donations, grants, adoption fees, corporate sponsorships, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for over 70 years.
We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $250,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
