Founded in 1952, Pet Haven is the first foster-based rescue in Minnesota. Pet Haven rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes cats and dogs at risk. We work closely with adopters to find the right match helping to create forever families for every Pet Haven Pet. We provide needed medical treatment, training, and behavioral support to each and every animal in our care. We also offer pre-adoption and post-adoption support. We have been “Match-Making” for over 68 years finding loving forever homes for thousands of companion animals in need.
We do not have a shelter. All our animals are in loving foster homes. Our foster program benefits both the animals in our care and their future families. We have over 300 foster families that prepare animals for adoption by giving them a chance to live in a home where they can fully express their personality, work to overcome fears, recover from trauma, and receive needed training giving them a better chance at a forever home.
We can’t adopt our way out of pet overpopulation. We address homelessness at the root through our spay/neuter initiatives. We were the first organization in Minnesota to require spay/neuter prior to adoption and have continued to support efforts to reduce overpopulation through programs and grants. More than 5,000 animals have been altered through our grant program.
Volunteers are key to helping Pet Haven to achieve its mission by helping to lead and support all core functions of the organization. We have over 350 volunteers and this keeps our administrative costs down so your donations go directly to the animals who need help.
