Surgical Care Manager Summary Pet Haven is seeking a Surgical Care Manager to lead our surgical program with scheduling, communication, and participation in high-volume/ high-quality spay-neuter clinics. Our surgical clinics currently occur 2-3 times a month, but we are looking to grow. This is a full-time position. Surgical clinic days are typically Saturdays or Sundays, so weekend availability is necessary—flexible remote/in-person hybrid schedule. This work matters! Duties Include: Evaluating medical records and collaborating with the Vet Care Manager to determine if a foster animal is a candidate for surgery. Monitor and manage rescues surgical needs including tracking all new foster animals that are in need of surgical services. Scheduling patients for internal and community day surgery clinics and corresponding with fosters and owners of community animals. Assesses animals non-surgical routine veterinary care needs and ensures care is done at time of surgery, when applicable. Preparing surgical space prior to the surgical clinic and ensuring all supplies needed are present and records are completed. Performing inventory on surgical supplies and alerting the Director of Programs for necessary ordering of supplies Manage and run high volume/ high quality spay-neuter clinics with 25-40 patients a clinic. Performing anesthesia, including drug calculations, induction, intubation, surgical prep, and monitoring of surgical patients before, during, and after surgery. Communicate with fosters and community clients regarding post-operative care and follow-up questions. Administer medications, vaccinations, and microchips, and perform phlebotomy. Assist with Intake exams and other in-house rescue animal medical care items. Assist attending veterinarian in exams and medical care as directed. Clean surgical instruments and prepare surgical packs for clinics. Medical record keeping and data entry. Qualifications Certified Vet Tech and experience assisting with Surgery.
