Veterinary Clinic Manager Work Environment Pet Haven is a registered 501c3 animal rescue with headquarters located in St Paul, MN. We have approximately 250 cats and up to 100 dogs in foster care at any given time. We primarily serve our local community to provide shelter and rehoming services for stray or surrendered pets. Our headquarters provides temporary housing for urgent cases or short stays but is NOT operated like a traditional shelter. Pet Haven’s Core values Community Excellent customer service High-quality care Integrity Innovation Perseverance Compassion Respect Description of position - VETERINARY CLINIC MANAGER The Pet Haven Veterinary Clinic manager is an extremely important role within the organization. The ideal candidate will possess credentials as a CVT in the state of MN, have at least 1 year experience in private practice, be proficient in surgery as well as adept at multi-tasking. Candidates with rescue/shelter experience are preferred but not required. Must demonstrate strong communication skills and professionalism. This is a full-time position and will require flexibility with regard to scheduling and responsibilities. This role is integral in the continued growth of the organization, and the expectation will be that the roles and responsibilities are likely to grow and change as the organization does. This person will report to the Pet Haven medical director. This is a full-time position on site at the St Paul headquarters. Some on-call/after hours responsibilities are expected. As part of a small veterinary team, the Veterinary Clinic manager may be in charge of supervising/training volunteer exam assistants. This person will also eventually be responsible for overseeing the veterinary technical staff as it grows. Responsibilities: CLINICAL DUTIES The veterinary clinic manager will ensure animals in Pet Haven foster receive optimal and timely care for wellness, sterilization, and medical needs. Specific duties include: Manage the care of animals temporarily housed at HQ, as well as our resident cats Provide onsite care for foster pets, including - Provide intake care of newly arrived animals - Assist with medical exams with our DVM/relief DVMs - Perform tech appointments/vaccination booster appointments -Surgical care- assist the veterinarian and surgical care manager with surgery as needed -Assist/perform radiographs and labwork as needed Maintain the exam room and inventory and oversee proper cleaning/organization/restocking per protocols Ensure all Pet Haven policies are being followed and executed for medical care. Stay current in best practices to ensure high quality of care ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: The veterinary clinic manager will be the primary point person for a variety of administrative/rescue oriented duties including but not limited to: Respond to emails and calls from fosters as the point person for all animal vetting concerns. Schedule foster animals for onsite care using our online Google calendar system Coordinate and maintain volunteer schedule for exams/intakes/etc Organize and ensure database accuracy for foster animal medical records Collaborate with the medical director and other Pet Haven leadership to decide on long-term care plans Work closely with the medical director to maintain inventory and supplies needed Monitor emails and forward them as indicated to the proper coordinator role Work closely with intake coordinator(s) to schedule intake care for incoming pets in a timely manner Responsible for overseeing our Medical Coordinator duties Rotate on-call schedules with other teammates for emergency line coverage on weeknights and weekends.
