As a member of the Board of Directors, your role is to secure Pet Haven’s financial viability, ensure healthy governance, create a strategic vision, and act as a champion for Pet Haven’s mission. Key Responsibilities Ensure financial stability Manage resources effectively Carry out the fiduciary responsibilities of the board Ensure a $500 annual financial contribution through “give or get” (direct donation or engaging with your network to secure donations) Advance the mission of Pet Haven Actively promote the mission of Pet Haven, contributing ideas and expertise. Keep up-to-date on developments in the organization’s field. Understand the organization’s mission, services, policies, and programs; serve as an informed ambassador for Pet Haven, and work to enhance the organization's public image. Participate in organization events (at least 2 events/year) Supervise the Executive Director and provide policy guidance and strategic direction to Pet Haven staff Ensure effective organizational planning. Determine and monitor the organization’s programs and services. Participate in the development of a strategic plan to accomplish the mission, oversee its implementation and evaluate its success. Actively participate in all board activities. Attend bi-monthly board meetings and committee meetings, if applicable. Be prepared, engaged, and responsive to board communications. Periodically take on special assignments. Suggest appropriate nominees to the board who can make significant contributions. Participate in the annual assessment of the board’s performance.
