Rex

Rex

This  companionable boy is looking for a home with someone who has owned a dog before.  He thinks he  might like to be ‘boss’ of the pack (you, your family and him) but we know he will be one happier camper if you are the boss!

He’s a cheerful fellow and loves lounging around, a cool wood, tile or linoleum floor is great in warm weather but he has figured out the x-large, cushy, orthopedic dog bed too.

Rex was in a home alone with 2 other smaller dogs for several days after his owner died unexpectedly and when he came to Pet Haven it took him awhile to warm up to his foster and then to meeting new people.  At the dog adoption events now he stretches out calmly on the floor and is interested in having a stranger greet him and pet him.  He lives with other dogs  too and is fine with them except for those annoying puppies who tend to jump in his face!  Surely a low grumble and a cold shoulder will teach them some manners.  Living as an only dog might be something he would like too.

Rex meets and attaches to women more easily than he does to men but he lives with and gets along well with the adult male in his foster home.  He would do best if he did not have to live with young and active children who thunder back and forth through the house with friends and whoop and holler.

When asked, Rex says he’s thinking a retirement home would be wonderful.  Very few stairs to climb up and down as he has some arthritis and plenty of time to lounge and snuggle with you as well as a sedate walk once a day.  Rex is house trained and can be allowed free roam of the house but can be kenneled or gated off if you would prefer.  Do you like to brush a dog?  Rex says he’ll need help with that too!

Maybe your home would be a perfect retirement home for this gentleman?
